  6. Unwanted object removal
  7. TV & Fireplace Replacement
  8. Sky Replacement

Let’s explore them with us!

1) Basic Brightness and Color Correction

Color correction involves adjusting the colors to make them as accurate as possible. It’s a crucial part of photo editing since your camera doesn’t always capture the hues of a scene the way it should.

Indeed, there’s no excuse for skipping colour and brightness correction, these are the quickest and easiest photo editing techniques.  Basically, correcting problems of the underlying image by balancing out the colors, making the whites appear white, the blacks appear black, and making sure that everything is even. Flat colours can be adjusted to give realistic images, and you can adjust hue and saturation to tweak colours in your real estate images until they look true to life. With just a few mouse clicks, a boring photo can be made instantly stunning and attractive. This is also the first step in making your photos look remarkable and professional.

2) Manual Blending

Have you ever asked why you want to blend multiple exposures in Photoshop? Simply put, our cameras are not always capable of capturing the entire dynamic range of a scene. In these instances, you can shoot a set of bracketed exposures. You can then blend those exposures in photoshop, using one of these techniques. Doing this should result in a correctly exposed image, with the complete dynamic range.

When doing it manually, you can use the exposure compensation function in the camera. If your camera does not have exposure compensation, you can set your camera to manual mode. You can then set aperture and ISO, and then adjust the shutter speed to under and overexposure the image.

The number of brackets required will depend on the dynamic range of the scene. The higher the dynamic range, the more brackets you are going to need. Sometimes you might need more under or overexposed brackets to cover the entire dynamic range.

The best way to ensure that you cover the entire dynamic range is by looking at each image histogram. You are looking for your most underexposed image covering the highlights, and that there is no clipping. You also want to ensure that your most overexposed image covers the shadows.

In most cases, you will be able to use only two brackets in your blend. But if the dynamic range is too large, you might need some more brackets when blending. Make sure you have an even distribution of exposures that covers the entire dynamic range.

There are multiple techniques in photoshop for blending exposures. Getting started does not have to be complicated. Knowing what you are capable of in photoshop will also help you when you are taking photographs. If you are new to blending, photographing less complicated scenes will allow you to achieve a smoother blend once you are editing in photoshop.

Exposure blending is not a one size fits all approach. You will be best served by learning many techniques, as this will allow you to pick the best methods for a given image. Sometimes the most obvious solution is not the best, but be careful not to over complicate things. You should always choose the right approach for the situation.

An important thing to remember is that exposure blend is only the beginning and not the final result. You will still need to process your image the same as you would any other. It will only give you a base to start from for your creative editing

3) Color Cast Removal

Color cast remains a common issue even though morden cameras are getting better at neutralizing it. It might not always be prominent but even a slight cast can be enough to distract the viewer from the photo. Thus, making it less impressive, and that is the thing you would like to remove from your photos. This can be caused by the light and the camera’s inability to process it, or by the use of the Neutral Density filters. Whatever the cause is, it’s something we want to avoid. Luckily, removing color cast in Photoshop is quick and painless. It only takes a few clicks!

4) Lens Distortion Correction

If you’ve ever photographed architecture, you know that it’s difficult to keep buildings and lines straight. Unless you use a tilt-shift lens, you’re always going to end up using Photoshop Lens Correction.

About lens distortion:

  • Barrel distortion is a lens defect that causes straight lines to bow out toward the edges of the image. Pincushion distortion is the opposite effect, where straight lines bend inward.
  • Vignetting is a defect that darkens the corners of an image due to light falloff around the perimeter of the lens.
  • Chromatic aberration appears as a color fringe along the edges of objects, caused by the lens focusing on different colors of light in different planes.

The Lens Correction filter fixes common lens flaws such as barrel and pincushion distortion, vignetting, and chromatic aberration. The filter works only with 8‑ and 16‑bit-per-channel images in RGB or Grayscale mode.

You can also use the filter to rotate an image or fix image perspective caused by vertical or horizontal camera tilt. The filter’s image grid makes these adjustments easier and more accurate than using the Transform command.

You can save the settings in the Lens Correction dialog box to reuse with other images made with the same camera, lens, and focal length. Photoshop saves both Auto Correction settings and Custom settings for distortion, chromatic aberration, and vignetting.

The photoshop lens correction filter is a great tool. But try not to over-rely on it though. When taking photos, make sure you have the right lens for the job.

The better your photo is straight out of the camera, the easier it is to correct distortions. If the distortions are really bad, they might be beyond repair.

5) Vertical Lines Straightened/ Straighten The Lines

Frequently, when photographing tall objects, such as a building, we get what’s called keystone distortion, or keystoning. This means that, rather than the edges of our subject looking straight and perpendicular, they look as if they’re leaning back or tilting inward towards the horizon. To fix the perspective, and crop the image at the same time, we can correct this distortion and improve the appearance of the image by using Photoshop’s Perspective Crop Tool.

Specifically, the Free Transform tool in Photoshop will let you straighten out your shots, just select the whole photo and drag the cursor to straighten the lines.

6) Unwanted Object Removal

You are getting unwanted objects in the frame while photo shooting is a normal thing to happen. Especially when you are shooting in a crowded place, it becomes impossible to avoid unwanted items. And you have to focus on the shooting leaving everything else on image post-processing.

One of the most “magical” things about Photoshop is how it lets you easily remove unwanted objects and other distractions from your images with just a few clicks. They might be Photographers or camera reflections in a mirror, a power cord under the dining table, dirty garbage cans, or a car blocking the view of the property…

Adobe Photoshop has a number of tools for photoshop to remove objects from photos, but not all of them are worth knowing about. Removing objects from the photo technique has two major parts: we need to use two types of tools to select the unwanted object and the other for erasing it.

For the selection process, you can use auto selection tools such as the object selection tool, the quick selection tool and the lasso tool. You can consider using the pen tool for the selection because it will provide you with the most precise selection you could get. But the pen tool is a professional tool, and to get the proper selection, you must learn it first.

We have used the patch tool, clone stamp tool, and healing brush tool to remove the unwanted object from a photo. All of them are great in their respective fields and fail miserably if used in other areas. So deciding which one is the best tool for photoshop removal is not correct and also easy. It depends on the user’s preference. Let’s compare each of them with each other and see what we can get.

7) TV & Fireplace Replacement

Do your interior real estate photos look a bit cold and dull? Make your interior images warm, interesting, and inviting by adding a beautiful fire in that unlit fireplace is an indispensable step when editing photos.

Your clients should get this feeling at a glance. Many home sellers want to light up the fireplace because it makes the images look real and appeal to a buyer’s decision.

In this case, it is best to seek the help of your trusted real estate photo editor and photoshop fire in your real estate photos.

Also, manipulating a TV’s screen in real estate images is entirely possible.

Again, there is no room for dull and boring images when it comes to your real estate listings. You should have them look vibrant and colorful, drawing the attention of future buyers. For real estate photo editors, this work’s demand is apparently good, with several customers asking to get this done as part of the packages.

There is no pressure. Doing TV screen replacement is always optional and never a requirement. You can still have listing photos with just a blank TV screen and close a deal.

8) Sky Replacement

Over-cast, gloomy, or stormy skies are things that are uninteresting to every real estate photographer when photo shooting. They make even the most attractive properties look boring and tedious. The sky replacement in Photoshop- one of the most anticipated when editing the photos, will create a more dramatic look, and correct less-than-favorable conditions.

Experienced photo editors can replace gray, overcast skies with sunny, summer skies. The properties would appear like they were shot during a fine summer day. The client can even choose a pretty sunrise, sunset, or twilight sky to replace the photos.

After all, the sky replacement tool’s purpose is to make the transition from sky to foreground look as seamless as possible. You can do further editing later to the hues and contrast of the image, so long as you’re starting from a good base.
