Item Removal: What to Clear on Site and What Editing Can Fix

Some things take seconds to move on site. Others are impossible to move but easy to remove in editing. Knowing the difference saves time on every shoot.

Clear these on site

  • Small clutter on counters, tables and floors.
  • Bins, hoses and toys in the yard.
  • Personal photos, mail and anything with a name or address.
  • Towels, shoes and clothing.

These take minutes to move, and moving them gives you a cleaner photo than any edit.

Leave these for editing

  • Cars parked across the street or in a neighbor's driveway.
  • Power cords, cables and wall stains.
  • For-sale signs and small marks on walls or floors.
  • Furniture that cannot be moved for the shoot, when the listing needs an empty room.

How removal edits are priced

Item removal is usually graded by how much of the scene has to be rebuilt: a cord or a stain is simple, while removing all the furniture from a room means rebuilding the floor, walls and light behind it. Beepec grades removal as Basic, Standard, Advanced and Extreme, so the level matches the work involved.

Describe exactly what to remove

In your order notes, list the items per photo: "remove the bin by the garage and the car on the street". Clear instructions avoid a second round of edits.

Key takeaways

  • Move small clutter and personal items on site.
  • Leave fixed objects, cars, cords and stains for editing.
  • Bigger removals need more rebuilding, so they sit in a higher level.
  • List the items to remove for each photo.

Common questions

Can editing remove cars from a driveway?

Yes. Cars on the driveway or the street are a common removal. The driveway and anything behind the car are rebuilt so the result looks natural.

Can you remove all the furniture from a room?

Yes. This is the most complex level of item removal, because the floor, walls and light behind the furniture have to be rebuilt. It is often combined with virtual staging.

Is it acceptable to remove things from listing photos?

Removing temporary items such as clutter, cars and bins is standard. Do not remove permanent features or hide defects; the photos must still show the property honestly.
